Michael Paynter

Michael Paynter, founder and CEO of Tier3 Technologies, is also a 35+ year veteran of the telecommunications and IT industry. Headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, Tier3 was recently named the recipient of the Channel Partners 360° Award sponsored by AT&T. This award recognizes firms delivering value to clients and partners by providing a holistic view of client’s technology needs and then providing unique solutions.

Michael’s background includes key positions at BellSouth, AT&T, Paradyne and Lucent Technologies. He has achieved a number of recognition goals and was named to the BellSouth President’s Club. As an entrepreneur, Michael served as Sales Vice President of Vobix – a startup in the Application Services Provider (ASP) industry – and in a multi-national startup, Spacecards, by serving as President and CEO.

Michael has held several positions within Kentucky State Government as the result of an appointment by Governor Brereton Jones. This included chairing the Strategic Planning Subcommittee of the Kentucky Information Resource Management Commission (KIRM), when in the role of Commissioner of Administrative Services and Chief Information Officer for the Kentucky Revenue Cabinet. Key achievements included the first statewide network for a State Police organization powered by AT&T UNIX Computers, as well as the first “Software Defined Network (SDN)” deployment to a state government.

Over the years Michael has been involved in community activities by serving on the board of the St. Matthews Little League and also by acting as mayor of the City of Norbourne which is located in Louisville, KY. He and his company currently work with and support the Family Scholar House in Louisville, an organization whose mission is to end the cycle of poverty by giving single-parent students the support they need to earn a four-year college degree.

billy_s_pictureWilliam Paynter is the Vice President of Business Development and Partner Relationships at Tier3 Technologies. Tier3 Technologies which started eleven years ago is now a premier partner of Riverbed and focuses on providing customers with strategies to reduce Information and Technology costs while also increasing the efficiency of company applications.

William is personally responsible for establishing and developing partnership relationships focused on the overall growth and expansion of the customer base. He also maintains legislative business relationships with State Governments and with commercial clients. As a member of the Board of Trustees, he is responsible for the long term strategic plans for Tier3 Technologies. William is currently rebuilding his team and organization by transforming and implementing business processes that will streamline Tier3 Technologies’ operations. Once completed Teams will be better equipped to succeed and to meet set goals.

William is actively pursuing his Executive MBA at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX while commuting to and from company headquarters in Louisville, KY. He is expected to graduate in May of 2017.

Donna Heitzman

Chair of Finance Committee

Heitzman, most recently a portfolio manager for New York City-based KKR Prisma Capital, joined the company in 2004 to help construct and manage customized portfolios. Founded in 2004, Prisma Capital was acquired by KKR & Co. LP in 2012. With a focus on credit markets, Heitzman specialized in event, credit and distressed fund strategies and was responsible for manager research and selection across these strategies. As a member of the senior investment team, she was actively involved in the firm’s investment process, including strategic allocation, portfolio management and performance monitoring.

Before joining KKR Prisma, Heitzman served for 18 years at AEGON USA, previously Providian Capital. As a portfolio manager in capital market strategies, she facilitated significant growth and broad diversification of a $1 billion fund portfolio. Prior to this role, she was responsible for fixed income credit research and private placement production. Heitzman began her career at Coopers and Lybrand (later becoming Price Waterhouse Coopers). Heitzman received a B.S. in Commerce, with high honors, from the University of Louisville. She is also a CFA Charterholder, a Certified Public Accountant, and was named in 2010 to The Hedge Fund Journal annual listing of “50 Leading Women in Hedge Funds.”

Alan Steiden

Alan Steiden, a Louisville native, graduated St. X high school in 1979 and headed to LSU to swim on the team there. Graduated in 1984 with a Business degree and entered the air filtration industry. He worked in air filtration for 21 years, with his final job being the Vice President of Global Marketing for American Air Filter in 2005. In that year, Steiden bought a local business in Louisville called Air Systems.

Air Systems is a Master Distributor for Ingersoll Rand air compressors. Since 2005 Air Systems has tripled in size and is a top ranked Ingersoll Rand distributor in a growing industrial marketplace.

In 2014 Steiden developed an new company called Kentuckiana Cleanfuel and entered the compressed natural gas business(CNG). His partner in that venture is Mr. Don Hayden, the owner and President of M&M Cartage.

David Dartley

For the past 5 years, David Dartley has been the CFO of Caldwell Tanks, Inc. while also holding his title as a Certified Public Accountant in Kentucky. David started off his career at Coopers and Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers.)
